In their own words…

“On Awards night, when my name was called, I was stunned. I remember sitting in my seat for a few eternal seconds before actually realizing that I had won. As I stepped up to receive the award, everything I had gone through to make it to that night flashed before my eyes. Now, as I look back, I realize how the Hearst competition tested more than just my skills as a broadcast journalist. Hearst was a test of character and my ability to handle a set of adverse circumstances. I left the competition with fond memories and the invaluable lessons of persistence and determination that will serve me well in the face of future challenges.”
