Graduate, August Gravatte, is silhouetted against cherry blossoms while enjoying fresh air, reading in the heart of Western Kentucky University’s campus during March in Bowling Green, Ky. Gravatte came to campus after having to stay inside her apartment the majority of the previous several weeks because of the coronavirus pandemic. Students usually flock to the courtyard when the trees blossom, but this year the amount of people was fewer and the atmosphere was hushed. “It felt equal parts beautiful and eerie, because the cherry blossoms are usually such a big part of spring at WKU,” Gravatte said. Photographer’s Note: This portrait is a double exposure made in-camera.
