Siti Dyannie Rahmaputri is an young undocumented immigrant who is active in the immigration reform movement since joining ASPIRE (Asian Students Promoting Immigrant Rights through Education) in 2011. She is able to stay in the United States because of Obama’s push for the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrival program, which was announced on June 15, 2012. With the help of Asian Law Caucus in San Francisco Chinatown, her family and she launched an online campaign called Our Families Matter to fight for her parents and another ASPIRE member’s family to stay last December. Rahmaputri will be transferring to University of California, Berkeley starting in the Fall of 2013 to study Molecular and Cell Biology and to pursue her dream to go to medical school.
