The South Street Seaport at Pier 17 in Lower Manhattan was a thriving seaport from 1820 to about 1860. Since 1967, it has served as a museum and a thriving tourist attraction offering restaurants, coast tours, a mall, and renovated historic ships that serve as musuems to the public.
