2016 – 2017 Hearst Journalism Awards Competitions
The 2016-2017 Hearst Journalism Awards program consists of 14 competitions in college writing, photojournalism, radio broadcast, television broadcast, and multimedia. The competitions begin in October with Feature Writing and will continue through the end of March when the final competition, Multimedia IV, takes place. The top five finalists in each competition will earn scholarship awards with matching grants going to their schools for a total of $226,800. Each participating university also earns a $100 stipend for each competition entered. The top finalists from these monthly competitions and their winning work will be featured here. Top winners in each division also qualify to participate in the National Championship held in San Francisco in June 2017. Entries are accepted online.
