He has worked as a bartender during the day at this Tenderloin bar for 13 years. "I remember when there used to be two or three gay bars right on this block," he shared. Now, because of the onset of new companies and the subsequent rising cost of rent, only Aunt Charlie's remains. Bob's nickname is "S.O.B.," which stands for "Sweet Old Bob."

- The drinks served at Aunt Charlie's Lounge in San Francisco, California, are notoriously cheap, especially in a city where prices only seem to be on the rise. The drink prices are another reason customers are attracted to this bar. During happy hour, one can get a beer for $3. Barry, a longtime bartender, on May 31, 2016, prepares a drink for a 29-year-old regular, Jared Neil. "The best part about this bar is that I can come here after a long day at work, sit down and get served instantly. They know us by name and by drink," Neil said.

This was the third drag show she has performed in, and only her second at Aunt Charlie's. She believes the bar has a more special vibe than other venues she has visited. "It feels like home," she said. Her drag name, AFABulous, is a play on words, referencing the acronym "Assigned Female at Birth."

For some shows, the tips and money raised from the cover charge are donated to charities. In the past, shows have fundraised for schools, homeless shelters and schools. One patron, Jared Neil, went so far as to say the manager of the bar, Joe Mattheisen, is the "Mother Theresa of the TL," in reference to the work the bar does for the Tenderloin community. If the bar closed, Neil mused, it would be detrimental to the both the queens and many nonprofits.
