- Judy Paige, 45, stands in front of the RV she has lived in with her two children, Isabella, 12, and Sophie, 10, for three years. Paige lost her job as a Medical Assistant at Mills-Peninsula Medical Center in Burlingame, California, after her now ex-husband screamed inside her workplace and scared patients. She had a second job at the time, but it wasn't enough to pay rent after he drained their joint bank account. She has not found steady work since that incident. Paige finds a way to pay for essentials and the gas and oil that keep the RV running each month, but it is not easy. Sometimes she will clean a friend's house or find and sell goods from the dumpster behind a local Pottery Barn, but the money is not regular.
- Isabella shows her mother the artwork she made at school after Paige picked her up to take her back home to their RV. Paige says they are tired of living in the RV, but are on Alameda Point Collaborative's waiting list for housing. "I know our day is coming," Paige said. "Maybe - one day."
- Paige watches for her eldest daughter, Isabella, while waiting to pick her up from school. Finding a way to take care of her kids, keep the RV running and make enough money to pay for essentials is difficult, but she has friends who pitch in, whether with money or by keeping them company and brightening their days.
- Paige shows the coloring book she uses to destress from the reality she lives in. "I try to push myself for another day - to keep going on with the day," Paige said. "Inside I just want to fold up - close up - shutdown."
- Paige pours fresh oil into the generator that keeps the RV's lights on and electricity running while her daughter Isabella plays with a Rubik's Mini that her mother has been trying to solve. Isabella said she gave up on solving it, but "I don't give up," Paige responded. "I try and try and try."
